Homework Policy:
Homework is assigned everyday including some weekends. Homework is a method of determining if your child understands the concepts that are taught in class. Therefore, it is imperative that they complete their nightly assignments in order to provide me an accurate representation of what the students understand and what they need reinforcement in.
I treat the completion of home assignments very seriously. Please understand that in order to ensure the success of your child, homework must be their first priority after school. The daily assignments should take no longer than an hour because I believe that the assigned work allows them enough time for extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs, and recreation. I do not believe in the ‘drill and kill’ philosophy. It is the responsibility of your child to maintain a homework journal since they are now upper-grade students. I write the daily homework assignment (math, English Language Arts, social studies, science, etc.) on the board a few minutes before class is dismissed. It is the student’s responsibility to copy the assignments into their required spiral notebook. On the account of your child’s absence, he/she will still be responsible for the missed assignments. Upon their return from their absence(s), they have two days to complete the assignments that were missed.
I want to thank you in advance for ensuring that your child’s academic success is of the upmost importance in their young lives. This is a partnership that requires all parties: the teacher, student, and parent to work cohesively, in order to reach the expectations and goals of this grade level.

There will be a parking fee, and I will do my best to secure free admission to the battleship. However, they may charge you because they are only waiving admission fees for the students and teachers.

If they are not eating the Breakfast in the Classroom meal, have them eat at home.  Please make sure that your child is not absent or tardy for the entire week because make-up testing is stressful.
